WCS athlete commits to college

By WCS 05/07/2025, 4:45pm PDT

Congratulations to Avery Alves on committing to play college soccer at Pacific Union College as a student athlete!

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to Pacific Union College! I want to first thank my family for always supporting me and watching me play no matter the weather. I would also like to thank Coach Troy, Coach Becky, and Coach Maha for pushing me to reach for the next level and assisting me on this journey. West Coast has given me so many opportunities that I would never have gotten to experience otherwise! A huge thank you to my teammates as well for constantly challenging me and welcoming me into the team from day one! Last but not least I would like to thank Coach Granados for taking me into his amazing program and giving me the opportunity to play collegiate soccer! I am so excited for where the PUC Women’s Soccer program will take me!” - Avery Alves

“Avery Alves is an exceptional goalkeeper and a cornerstone of our team’s success. A strong, well-balanced athlete, Avery commands the box with confidence, showcasing elite-level hands and sharp reflexes that consistently shut down top-tier competition. Her distribution is outstanding—whether it’s with her feet or launching a quick counter with a pinpoint throw, she sparks our attack just as effectively as she anchors our defense.

Avery’s talent has earned her widespread recognition, including multiple All-Star selections and the prestigious honor of being chosen to represent the Girls Academy as the top goalkeeper in the Northwest Division. Her accolades speak for themselves, but it’s her leadership, consistency, and relentless drive that truly set her apart. Avery is a game-changer and a role model, both on and off the pitch.” -Coach Troy Dayak

“We are so proud of you, Avery. All your hard work and sacrifices have paid off. We are excited for your next chapter of life at PUC; they are so lucky to have you! We would like to thank Coach Troy and Coach Maha, as well as everyone at West Coast Soccer. Coach Troy, you are such a humble man and a great influence and mentor to these girls. Coach Maha: Avery's favorite day is Monday because she gets to drive all the way to Livermore to train with you. Most days, Avery came home with a smile and a great story to tell! We would also like to thank the whole Kryptonite team. Thank you for welcoming Avery to the team since day one. You girls are such a pleasure to watch and root for, on and off the field. We wish each of you continued success in your future.” - Joe and Jina Alves

WCS Koyotes make it to State Cup semfinals

By WCS 12/04/2018, 8:15am PST

On a wet Saturday morning at the Davis Legacy Soccer Complex, West Coast Koyotes played against San Ramon in the Quarterfinals of Norcal State Cup. Six minutes into the first half, Natalie Miller made a great pass through the water puddles to Sophia Rodriguez, who fought through the defense to get the shot off. The ball was ripped into the back of the San Ramon net to get a 1-0 lead for the Koyotes in the first half. When second half came, after the Koyotes battled for 13 minutes, Rodriguez returned the favor by passing the ball to Miller to get the Koyotes their second goal of the game. The game ended as a 2-0 shutout for Parker Black which moved the Koyotes on into the semifinals the same day.

The semifinals began at 2:45 against Heritage at the now muddy fields of Davis Legacy Soccer Complex. In the beginning of the first half, Heritage was able to score two goals against the Koyotes. 18 minutes into the first half, Peyton Stark fought to beat several Heritage defenders to get a pass off to Megan Silva who shot the ball past the Heritage goalkeeper to make it 1-2. With three minutes left in the first half, there was a scramble in the Heritage box with players left and right trying to get their foot on the ball. Cailey Sasaki finally found the ball at her feet, made the pass to Megan Silva who rang the ball into the back of the Heritage net. Second half was a hard fought battle between the two teams, but ended with a tie. There was 10 minutes of overtime of back and forth play, however, no team could finish their chances. The result was a penalty kick shootout. Heritage goalkeeper made a diving save for the Koyotes first shot. Koyote goalkeeper, Parker Black answered back by making a great save on the third shot. It was a battle back and forth that ultimately ended in the Heritage win in penalty kicks. Koyotes head coach, Adaurie Dayak, stated, “I am very proud of how hard my girls played in both games today. Not one of the Koyote players had a clean jersey after the game, which shows how hard they fought for each other. These girls have come so far and I can’t wait to continue coaching them.”
