West Coast Soccer Club 05 girls’ team Wildkatz went into the weekend undefeated in NorCal NPL after 9 matches, with 6 wins and 3 draws. For their next match in NPL play Wildkatz met cross-town rival Pleasanton Rage 05 on the pitch in Livermore on Sunday, March 24th.  As the match began, Wildkatz defense of Makenna Galvan, Madison Reid, Jasmin Staples, Sydney Goodwin and keeper Bella Gelao kept Rage offense on their heels and they tried to push forward into Wildkatz territory.  Wildkatz strikers Cameron Silva, Kamiryn Grimes, and ZusetteZamora sent multiple shots on Rage’s goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net.  After a foul on Rage defender well outside of their keeper’s box, Jayden Morton sent the ball soaring past the keeper’s outstretched hands and into the top, upper corner of the net giving Wildkatz the 1-0 lead. Wildkatz continued to play strong and kept Rage scoreless in the first half of play.  As the second half began, the wind picked up in the second half so did Rage intensity. Wildkatz midfielders including Morton, Sutton Denny, Karlee Lywandowsky and Taryn Richey continued to work to feed the ball to the strikers and keep the play on Rage’s end of the pitch. Wildkatz defense pushed back with each of Rage’s surges, but Rage was successful in one of their attempts on goal and the match was tied 1-1 with minutes left to play.  Next up for Wildkatz 05 is the continuation of CRL play in Tracy the weekend of March 30th – 31st.
