The West Coast U16G Kaos team had two major accomplishments over the weekend. On Saturday, Kaos eliminated AFC Academy to move on in NPL State Cup.  On Sunday Kaos beat Santa Clara Sporting's top 03 girls team to win the California Regional League championship to earn a spot at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals.

On Saturday, Kaos played their first match of the elimination phase of Norcal State Cup competition with a 3-0 victory over AFC Academy.  Kaos scored first at the 33 minute mark with a cross from Alivia Ganz to Zusette Zamora.  With one minute left in the half, Zamora scored again giving Kaos a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.   The third and final goal of the match came at the 70thminute from Cami Silva. Silva fired a rocket shot from the left to find the back of the goal.   Kaos now advances to the sweet 16 round of competition on their quest for a state cup championship.

On Sunday, Kaos competed in the California Regional League (CRL) championship match against Santa Clara Sporting.  Kaos beat out sporting 3-2 for the victory and a coveted spot to compete in the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Boise, Idaho this summer.

The match started with Sporting going on the attack.  They managed to fire off a handful of shots but could not find the net.  Kaos also found a few scoring opportunities but also could not finish.  At the 35thminute, Sporting scored first with a perfectly angled shot just out of reach of Kaos goalie, Maddie Mannina.  The first half ended with sporting ahead 0-1.

As the second half starting, Kaos went on the attack.  Forward Anaya Shelton dribbled the ball down the right side of the field, deep into scoring territory.  Shelton fired a shot that drifted into the top left corner of the net.  The Sporting Goalie had no chance to stop it.  The match was now tied 1-1.   A few minutes later, sporting answered with their second goal.  Determined not to give up, Kaos did their own answering with Shelton crossing to Forward Maddie Del Prado who got her head on it and scored.  With 20 minutes to go, the match was tied 2-2.

The final goal of the match came from Defender Alyssa Williams with a beautiful pass to Del Prado.  Del Prado navigated around the Sporting defenders to drill a shot in the corner of the goal.  Kaos moved ahead 3-2 and shutdown Sporting’s chances of answering.  The CRL championship win gives Kaos an amazing opportunity to travel to Boise, Idaho in June to compete in the Far West Regionals competition.
