This past weekend brought the finale of the CRL Performance event to determine the Cal North representatives for US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals held in Boise, Idaho. West Coast's Pre-NPL 06 girls' team, Krossfire, completed their pool play on Saturday. They finished at the top of their bracket with a record of 2-1-0 with 17 goals for and only 2 goals against. This set the table for Sunday's 06 age group final between Krossfire and Santa Clara Sporting Green 06. The beginning of the first half was a battle for the midfield as both teams went back and forth. Both West Coast and Sporting created many offensive opportunities, but tough defense on both sides kept all attacks at bay. In the 16th minute, Krossfire whipped in a strong cross that bounced off a Sporting defender for an own goal and went up 1-0.  Krossfire would add a second goal before halftime when Kayla Robinson connected a pass to Payton Hoover who put Krossfire up by 2.

The second half saw Sporting come out strong trying to penetrate all areas but Krossfires defensive line held strong and GK Jennessa Maselli stopped all 7 shots that came her way. Krossfire would add a couple more goals, Robinson to Gianna Ramirez and Robinson with an unassisted goal to give West Coast Krossfire a convincing 4-0 victory.

Next up for Krossfire is US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Boise June 16-23. In preparation for this they will be competing in the NorCal Premier Spring League starting next weekend.
