WEST COAST KARMA U16 GIRLS TIED FOR FIRST IN NORCAL PREMIER LEAGUE SPRING LEAGUE PLAY

This past weekend, the West Coast Karma 03 Girls team tied Castro Valley 1-1 in a Spring League match played at Tennyson High School. The match was a battle of the unbeaten teams for first place. The first goal was scored by Allison Rickman off a corner by Francesca Pereira putting West Coast up 1-0. In the second half, Castro Valley scored on a set piece just outside the eighteen with fifteen minutes to go to tie the game. West Coast Karma played California Northstars winning the game 2-0. Karma attack was relentless and were finally rewarded when Jessie Sotelo stole the ball from the center back and placed the ball in the top shelf with a beautiful shot. The second goal was scored from the right side of the penalty area and was placed with precision inside the front post by Allison Rickman in the second half. The shutout was completed by a strong back line consisting of Ycela Ochoa, Chloe Ironside, Maddie Long, Kelsey Brumm and Ciara Lucas. Controlling the midfield was Melanie Nguyen, Francesca Pereira, Kylee Gregory and Jazmine Staples. Leilani Staples sealed the shutout in the net. Karma has given up one goal the past three games and is tied for first place.

West Coast Forward Jessie Sotelo streaked up the field to provide offensive firepower for U16 Karma.
