On Sunday Wildfire met with California Odyssey in Turlock Ca where 16 teams competed in State Cup Qtr finals. Wildfire started off with a blaze in the first few minutes of the game Tati Elsea set up a perfect pass to find a streaking Jaden Hall who scored the first goal of the game. The lead would not last long with Odyssey answering back with a goal of their own to tie the game at one a piece.  Both teams battled through the first half with Wildfire defense lead by Isa Saavedra , Dakota Hawkins , Tatiana Elsea,  Reagan Mah, and Jayden Sanders.  Cal Odyssey knocked a long ball up field and caught the defense by surprise, a WCS defenders was tangled up with the Odyssey forward and the referee issued a red card leaving the Wildfire to play a player down for the remainder of the game.

Second half Wildfire continued controlling the game with midfielders McKenna Diaz, Precious Martinez, Dani Vallejo, Megan Clifton who keep the ball moving. A free kick set up by Clifton would give Wildfire a chance to take the lead and they capitalized when Callie Crain placed a shot that deflected off the wall, forward Anaya Shelton beat everyone in the air and headed the ball off the side post and into the goal giving Wildfire a 2-1 lead.  The intensity of the game escalated as did the physicality, a Odyssey player received two yellow cards resulting in a red card ejection and now both teams were playing with 10 players.  West Coast put the game out of reach when Madison Delprado slipped a pass to Savannah Boone putting Wildfire up 3-1 for the win. Wildfire will face Ceres Earthquakes in the Elite 8 of State Cup at Davis Legacy fields on April 28th.  “It was a great tactical match, our players executed perfectly to get the win and move on” said West Coast Soccer Coach Troy Dayak.
