In a double-header weekend, the girls of WCS Kurse defeated the Alameda SC Islanders twice to secure a current first place position in the NorCal Premier Gold Region 3 & 4 league. On Saturday, May 4th, the two teams met on the natural grass field in Livermore. Goalkeeper Amia Harris and defenders Kelsey Brumm, Katie Reid, Taz Thompson, Monique Reil, and Andrea Castillo Ortiz held the Islanders scoreless. The only goal of the game was scored by WCS Elissa Giuliacci after a stellar crossing assist by Aryana Jones for a 1 to 0 victory for West Coast Soccer

Sunday’s game was a rematch as Alemeda looked to get their revenge against the Kurse at their home artificial turf field in Emeryville.  Kaya Scott had other plans on how the game would go as she started off the scoring for WCS Kurse. The second goal was scored by Andrea Castillo Ortiz after a throw in and then Kailey Matta dribbled up the right side of the field and delivered a strong crossing shot for the third goal of the game. An assist from Andrea set up Amber Feduniw to score the fourth goal. The fifth and final unanswered goal was scored by a 40-yard shot by Sabrina Rogers to finish with a 5 to 0 victory over the Alameda Islanders. WCS Kurse remains in1st place this Spring as well as breaking into the top 30 teams ranked 27 in Northern California.
