This past weekend, West Coast's Pre-NPL team, Krossfire, took to the pitch competing in the annual West Coast Cup tournament in Tracy. Though the rain decided to stay away, the wind was there to stay the entire weekend. The windy conditions made for a lot of unexpected plays throughout the tournament.

Krossfire started off the weekend against LFC IAA Bay Area 05G Academy Red. Krossfire struggled to start, giving up a goal in the second minute of the match. They would gather their wits and keep the LFC attack at bay throughout the remainder of the first half. The second half saw more of the same back and forth battle. LFC would add an insurance goal late in the half and hold on to give Krossfire the 0-2 loss.

Saturday afternoon matched Krossfire up against a physical Ajax United 05 White team. The Krossfire offense came out firing. In the sixth minute, Mia Howard took a pass from Payton Hoover and knocked it past the Ajax goalkeeper to put Krossfire up 1-0. Krossfire would not look back after this. Hoover added another Krossfire goal in the 21st minute off a pass from Jasleen Gasca. Two minutes later Macy Kreighbaum blocked a clearance and put in Krossfire's third goal. Brittany Hahn would knock in a free kick kick shot in the 28th minute to go up 4-0. As the half was coming to a close, Taylor Salsman added the 5th Krossfire goal. The second half saw the Krossfire defense hold tight and keep the 5-0 shutout in tact.

Sunday morning Krossfire would take to the pitch against Players North 06G from the Reno area. Kayla Robinson got Krossfire on the board early, knocking in a pass from Mia Howard. The 16th minute saw Sophia Simonds would chase down an Adriana Paneda free kick and knock it past the goalkeeper to put Krossfire up 2-0. Payton would add another Krossfire goal in the 18th minute, knocking in a pass from Macy. Krossfire would take a 3-0 into half. The second half was spotlighted by Krossfire's defense stopping the Players North attack. Gabby Carlton would add an extra Krossfire goal knocking in a pass from Skyler Ingram. Krossfire would hold on and take the 4-0 victory and secure the second spot in their bracket.

Sunday afternoon saw Krossfire in the U14 championship game in a rematch against LFC. The first half was a back and forth physical battle as both teams pushed into the offensive zone only to be thwarted by the defensive line. The second half looked like an extension of the first as both teams struggled to get any offense going. The defense on both sides was just too strong. The 55th minute saw Krossfire get a loose ball battle in front of the LFC net. Kayla was able to sneak it in past the goalkeeper to put Krossfire up 1-0. The Krossfire defense, anchored by Adriana, Brittany, Madylin Harrell and Sophia would hold strong the remaining 15 minutes, while goalkeeper Ava Coverdale would stay strong in goal securing the rematch victory and the West Coast Cup championship.

Next up for Krossfire is the NorCal Spring League Premier Division Cross-Regional tournament in Davis where they will take on San Francisco Elite Academy in a quarterfinal match.
