After a big opening day weekend win at home, the West Coast Soccer 04 Wicked girls traveled to Walnut Creek for a match against Walnut Creek Surf. The first two meetings between these two teams were very physical so everyone was expecting a intense game.

Bailey Gualco continued to make a big impact by getting West Coast on the board first by slotting in a loose ball in front of the net to give Wicked a 1-0 lead. Surf found the equalizer off a poor long range shot from a bad clearance midway through the half to tie the game at 1-1. West Coast was led by strong play from forwards Aryanna Jones Bailey Gualco , Ella Ferrick and Kaya Scott, midfielders Mikaela Yancey, Madison Herrera, Miranda Valle & Adrianna Martins kept the flow going while Allyson Thompson, Andrea Castillo-Ortiz, Elissa Giuliacci and Captain Mary Jane Anzo kept the back line in sync.  A strong individual effort by Kamiryn Grimes got the second goal as West Coast Wicked went into the halftime break with a 2-1 advantage.

In the second half, Gualco again showed her instinct for being in the right place at the right time, and put another loose ball into the back of the net to give West Coast a 3-1 lead. Gualco has netted three goals in the first two games. Late in the second half, the high temperatures started to become a factor and the Wicked back line began to tire. Sensing opportunity, Surf launched an all out attack which resulted in some scoring chances but Wicked goal keeper Indy Stoneberger was huge down the stretch making crucial saves to deny any more goals for Surf. “Our team played good soccer and we created a lot of chances to score, everyone did their job well” said Head Coach Troy Dayak.

West Coast Soccer Goalkeeper Indy Stoneberger came up big down the stretch.
