West Coast Krush 04 Girls Team faced off against San Ramon FC 04G White in NorCal State Cup, Group Stage play. In the first half, the possession game was controlled by Krush. The defensive of Emani Araya, Susan Contreras, Brooke Gale and Victoria Rivera, along with goalie Cassidy Pearson shut down the few opportunities San Ramon created in the first half, while the offensive front line of Francesca Rivera, Kaya Brown, Carly Singleton, Lauren Stoneberger and Kayla Robinson kept applying the pressure to San Ramon.  Despite Krush’s best efforts, the game remained scoreless after the first half.  Krush came close to scoring early in the second half after earning a corner kick, Carly Singleton sent the ball right into the box, where Kira Korsak leaped to get a head on it, sending the ball to the goal. Unfortunately for Krush, the ball bounced off the cross bar, straight down to the ground, without crossing the goal line, where San Ramon’s goalie grabbed it, stealing the opportunity away from Krush.

Despite the continuous effort of Krush, San Ramon broke the deadlock with 10 minutes left in the game, taking a 1-0 lead on breakaway.

Krush doubled their efforts, led with strong ball movement by midfielders Julia Morfin, Kimmie Keller, Taylor Salsman, Diana Guerrero, Korsak & Singleton. Their hard work paid off with three minutes remaining in the game. On a San Ramon goal kick, Korsak fought with a San Ramon midfielder to receive the ball then maneuvered to deflect the ball away from San Ramon’s midfielder to Susan Contreras, Contreras passed the ball right back to Korsak, who, after taking a dribble, shot the ball high into the net from just outside the 18-yard-box, tying the game 1-1. Krush kept applying pressure to San Ramon’s defense, but when the whistle blew the game ended in the 1-1 tie.
