West Coast Soccer Club (Tracy, Calif.) has joined the Girls Academy League, becoming the eighth member of the Northwest Conference.

Earlier this week, San Francisco Elite Academy became the seventh club to join the conference for the inaugural 2020-2021 season. This week’s additions will play alongside six other clubs from California and Washington: Lamorinda Soccer Club (Moraga, Calif.), Reign Academy (Tacoma, Wash.), ISC Gunners (Issaquah, Wash.), Silicon Valley SA / Palo Alto SC (Bay Area, Calif.), Breakers F.C. (Santa Cruz, Calif.) and Clovis Crossfire (Clovis, Calif.).

“West Coast Soccer is excited to be a part of the Girls Academy,” said West Coast Director of Coaching Troy Dayak. “The GA is in a prime position to shape and mold the future landscape of women’s soccer in America. We are honored that the GA has recognized our club for all the hard work, dedication and commitment here in Northern California.”

Founded in 2011, West Coast SC is an established US Club Soccer member club, with many of its elite teams playing in the highly-competitive Norcal Premier Soccer League. The addition of the Girls Academy League level will represent the next step up for its program.

“We are looking forward to giving our players this additional elite platform to help continue to develop them to reach their goals for college, professional, national and beyond,” added Dayak.

A total of 61 clubs have now been announced as members of the Girls Academy League for the 2020-2021 season, across seven conferences.

The Girls Academy League is a new competition platform launched by members of the Development Player League (DPL). The DPL has stated that it will continue to provide its clubs with flexibility in the following two key areas:

Permission for all players in the Girls Academy League to participate in high school soccer.
Revising the substitution rules to encourage clubs to better utilize their player pools, especially when showcasing their players to college coaches.
