This past weekend 2009 West Coast Wolfpack attended the Shamrock Tournament in Dublin, California. Playing up in the 2008 age group their first game was against the 2008 Ceres Earthquakes. In the twenty eighth minute Ashley Browning passed the ball to Savannah Williams who scored Wolfpack’s first goal of the tournament. With a hand ball call made in the forty fourth minute, Earthquakes had a penalty kick. 2010 Goalkeeper, Alivia Narducci-Chiunti, made an amazing left side diving save to keep the shutout. Finally in the forty sixth minute of the game, Alaina Briones played the ball to Ashley Browning who found the back of the net, giving the Wolfpack their first win of the tournament at 2-0.

In game two of the tournament the 2009 Wolfpack played 2008 East Bay Eclipse. Starting off in the sixteenth minute of the game, Browning passed the ball wide to Madelyn Hernandez who shot and scored. In the twenty second minute an Eclipse forward got a breakaway to goal, sprinting from about fifteen yards behind, Izabella Arellano cleanly stole the ball from the Eclipse player and made a long pass wide to Hernandez. After a couple touches she crossed the ball to 2010 WCS player Isabella Humphrey who made a one time left-footed blast into the back of the net giving Wolfpack a 2-0 lead at half. In the thirty third minute Browning played the ball to Hernandez who put the ball in the back of the net for her second goal of the game. In the forty eighth minute there was a hand ball about ten yards outside of the box. West Coast left back, Taylor Caoili, stepped up to take the kick. The ball was beautifully placed over the goalkeepers fingertips into the far corner of the net, giving the team a 4-0 victory, clenching first place in points and an automatic placement in the championship game.

The next day West Coast Wolfpack was scheduled to play 2008 Fresno Heat at 1:20pm and again in the final at 4:00pm. With both teams guaranteed a spot in the final, both coaches agreed to make their one game count for the championship. Wolfpack was fired up and ready to play the championship game. With the temperature being 95 degrees on a turf field, the team fought hard through the first half against Fresno Heat ending the half at a 0-0 tie. In the thirty ninth minute a cross was made and Megan Silva shot at the goal. It was deflected by the goalie and Williams sped through to  place the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper, Narducci-Chiunti, had two great saves late in the game to keep the shutout. The final whistle blew and West Coast Wolfpack was named the champions of the tournament with a full weekend shutout. Coach Adaurie Dayak stated, “I am so proud of these girls. We have been working very hard in practices and it showed out on the field this weekend. We also had some 2010 Klash players guest playing with the team who helped make a big difference. This was a great experience for for the team and was a great kick starter to our season.” West Coast Wolfpack is looking forward to starting their league play in the NPL coming up this month.
