West Coast Soccer has fun in the sun and sand.

One week prior to opening day of fall league play the young ladies of West Coast Soccer GA enjoyed a competitive romp at the beach. The CalNorth Sand Soccer State Cup hosted by Pro Am Beach Soccer at Santa Cruz beach boardwalk in a unique first of its kind one day inaugural event. The winners crowned Sand Soccer State Champions! West Coast wanted to do something different for pre season fitness so they put together a sand soccer uniform consisting of a pink tank top, black and pink beach shorts and pink sand socks, loaded up their soccer balls and sun tan lotion and hit the beach but not to just lay around.  WCS Put together 11 teams of 6-10 Players and competed in two-three preliminary games a semi final and final all in one day right under the spectacular backdrop of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.  Parents got a unique view from the boardwalk and beach with ocean on one side and amusement park rides on the other. 

 

Event coordinator Tighe O’Sullivan said “we are building something special here that youth soccer players in California can be proud of while visiting one of the oldest boardwalks in the country. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, opened in 1907 and is the oldest amusement park in California.   West Coast Soccer Director Troy Dayak said “I could not imagine a sand soccer event without a West Coast team in it!”  West Coast had three teams make the final the 08 and 06 girls finished 2nd while the 07G took home first.  This concludes their pre-season for this year as WCS is now ready to get the league play started.
