TEAM TERREMOTO traveled again this weekend away to Pleasanton Saturday for another road game, and to Danville Sunday to face a tough Mustang team.  Both were exciting matches, but luck ran out for the team Sunday after the team jumped out to a 1-0 lead on another nice goal by Grayson Ryan, and they peppered the opposing goal with a large number of near misses, hitting the bar, and barely missing a number of shots and opportunities.  The Terremoto coach praised the effort, saying he was very proud of the team coming out strong and taking control of the game so well.  “Sometimes your best efforts can come up short.  Even though you shoot more than the other team, and pressure them well, if the shots don’t go in, the other team can mount a comeback.”  Terremoto ended up suffering two goals against them in the last 8 minutes of the game, to lose a close one, 2-1.

On Saturday, however, the shots did not miss.  Nick Brown started the scoring with a well-placed shot to start the scoring good luck, in another good showing for him.  More goals poured in, for a 6-0 lead in the first half, with scoring by Mason Fehlmann, Julian Marron with two, Grayson Ryan, and Joaquin Retuyan.  Brayden Aycock scored another in the second half, as West Coast beat Ballistic Gold by a score of 7-1.

Next, the team hosts a Norcal California State Cup game against a squad from Clovis, Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Legacy Fields in Tracy.   They are then back to league play Sunday in Livermore against another tough Mustang team, the current league leaders. The game is at 10:00 a.m. at Christensen Park. West Coast Terremoto head coach stated, “We are improving nicely and really look forward to the State Cup play, in particular.”

Before every game the team does a loud cheer for Tony Mendoza’s father, Miguel, prior to its games, to honor him.  Miguel Mendoza lost his life recently in a tragic accident and hospital stay.  Though Miguel cannot be there to watch his son play, Tony plays with the word “Dad” on his jersey to honor him, also, in remembrance.  Miguel was a loving father for his two kids, a big fan of the team, and is sorely missed.  A GoFundMe page can be visited to help support Tony and family, at https://gofund.me/6004df70 .
