The WCS Warriors (2011 Girls) went undefeated to finish second in the OV Thriller Tournament in Morgan Hill this past weekend.  They started the Halloween event with a trick or treat of their own with a 4-0 victory over the host Toros on two goals in the first half (sixth and thirteenth minute) by Daniela Cervantes after stealing the ball near the top of the penalty box on successful high presses by Shayli Reese and Francesca Romagna.  In the second half the Warriors put two more in the net.  Shayli Reese finished off a corner kick exchange from Olivia Rodriguez to Bryssa Rodriguez who made a beautiful cross from the corner off the penalty box for an assist.  To finish of the scoring, Madison Buldoc hit a left footed volley off a high-flying cross by Emma Gomez (assist) in the final seventh minute of the game.  The Warriors started strong finishing with a shutout and maximum points off of strong defense and formidable goalie play.

In the second game the Warriors fought Union City Premier for fifty-seven scoreless minutes to break the tie on a steal and rifling right footed volley by Daniela Cervantes after a strong throw from Shelby Ford was deflect deep in Union City's half.  Union City tied the game two minutes later with one minute remaining in the game.  The Warriors mounted a last-minute push with a drive and shot from Madison Buldoc that sailed just wide as the final seconds expired and left them with a tie but a lead in the standings after the first day.

On Sunday, the Warriors started the day with a key match up with the Monterey Surf who was well position in the standings in second place but with equal points.  It was a toughly contested match with the Surf team striking first with a goal in the 6th minute on a one-on-one drive under heavy pressure from an aggressive defensive tackle attempt by Goalie Leilani Kukahiko for only the second goal surrendered in three games.  The score remained the same deep into the second half with the Surf striking again in the forty-first minute.  The Warrior's defense stiffed, and the offensive attack reengaged resulting in a free kick from the corner of the penalty box where Francesa Romagna shot over a well-positioned wall to score in the top corner of the goal in the forty-seventh minute.  With only fifteen minutes in the game, the Warriors increased their pressure and scored a game tying goal on a cross from Bryssa Rodriguez to Romagna who drove it through three defenders and put it in the back of the net to keep the Warriors in the standings.

In the final game, the Warriors played Central Valley SC and needed a 2-0 victory to seal the championship.  They went ahead 1-0 on a pass forward in the seventh minute into the penalty box from Bryssa Rodriguez to Daniela Cervantes resulting in a goal on a hard low Cervantes shot after beating several players in the penalty box.  The Warriors had numerous chances out-shooting their opponents 17 to 8 but in the forty-eighth minute gave up the final goal of the game ending in a tie and just short of the championship but firmly in a well-deserved second place for the undefeated weekend out-shooting opponents 56-31.
