The 2022 State Cup Champion West Coast Terremoto 2013 boys added players during this years tryouts and was able to split into two teams for 2023, Black Gold and Green Bronze.  With good planning, both teams are still fighting in the State Cup, with the Black Gold already into the final, and the Green Bronze into the semi-finals next weekend.

The then newly-formed Terremoto team did well in 2022 after finishing 2nd in league play, 3rd in the Dublin Shamrock tournament, 2nd in the Brentwood BooFest, Champions in NorCal Premier State Cup (B2), and now going undefeated in their nine (9) State Cup games.

The success of last years State Cup Championship team resulted in the formation of two teams for Spring play in 2023, one playing silver, and one bronze, with the silver team winning the NorCal Spring League Championship.  Both teams currently sit at second place in their respective leagues.

Now, with continuing success, despite so many competing teams from all over Northern and Central California, Terremoto ’13 Black has its sights set on the State Cup Championship in the Final of the Gold division set for December 9 in Modesto, and the Terremoto ’13 Green is in the Semi-Finals in Bronze.

With several players scoring last weekend, despite having no subs and only having nine (9) players, the Black team had blistered through the semi-final with a shocking score of 12-3 over their San Mateo opponent.  This caused one observing coach (Phil Kalis) to report, “I watched Terremoto Black’s 2nd game.  It was total annihilation.  Goals from volleys, flying outside of foot volleys, chest traps, chips.  It was a spectacular display of finishing.  And a great job by the coaches….”

To get ready for the upcoming State Cup championship weekend, both teams are headed to the historical Juventus Coppa D’Oro in Redwood City this upcoming weekend for exciting tournament play.

The 2013 age group is expected to add more players for Spring and is projected to feature at least three (3) teams (and including pre-NPL designation) for the fall 2024 season.  When asked about the obvious improvement and great results of the 2013 teams, assistant coach Curtis Aycock noted, “We are blessed to have a great group of people surrounding our teams, and with the positive coaching philosophies we practice, the players can improve greatly, with better form as crucial, and that results in winning more games with smart play having more fun.”
