West Coast Soccer Club’s girls team Wildkatz 05 continued their inaugural year in NPL Champions League with a match against Ajax Green of Modesto.  While Wildkatz had a barrage of shots on Ajax’s goal, they couldn’t find the net in the first half of play.  Ajax had only two shots on goal the entire game but against the run of play were able to score first.  In the second half of play, West Coast continued to take shots and were finally successful in getting one to the net. A nice cross from Savannah Cordero put Cameron Silva in past the Ajax defense where she was able to tie the match at 1-1.  Wildkatz continued to hold Ajax from getting any shots on goal, but they couldn’t find the net again and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

For their third NPL match, Wildkatz met California Odyssey of Clovis on September 22nd.  Odyssey had a score to settle with the Wildkatz since their last meeting was at San Diego Surf Cup and Wildkatz knocked Odyssey out of the tournament in the semi-finals with a 3-1 win and the bragging rights of the only Norcal team to win at Surf.  Odyssey came out aggressively and they were able to score first.  With seconds left in the first half, Jayden Morton send the ball soaring over the keeper and tied the match 1-1.  WCS continued to take multiple shots on goal and their defense kept Odyssey’s high power attack from getting any shots on goal.  On a pass from Cameron Silva, Kamryn Grimes struck the ball into the upper left corner of the net and Wildkatz had the 2-1 lead.  With seconds left in the match, a foul in the Wildkatz box gave Odyssey a free kick.  Odyssey found the net on the free kick and the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

On September 23rd, Wildkatz began the NorCal State Cup season.  They met Mustang SC Red in Danville on their home turf.  Wildkatz started the match with a goal by Jayden Morton on an assist from Cameron Silva.  Minutes later Zusette Zamora tapped the ball into the net on a pass from Kamryn Grimes.  Zamora and Grimes would connect again as Zamora sent the ball past the goalie.  Jayden King ended the half by increasing the Wildkatz lead to 4-0 with a booming shot over the Mustang keeper.  Just thirty seconds into the second half Silva took a pass from Zamora and crushed one into the upper corner making it 5-0. Soon after, Silva crossed to Grimes and Grimes sent the ball to the back of the net and WildKatz would lead 6-0. West Coast was not done scoring yet, Morton scored again on an assist from Taryn Richey.  Finally, Zamora would complete a hat trick with one last goal and WildKatz would end the match with an 8-0 victory.

Up next for WildKatz is the continuation of NPL play the weekend of October 6th and 7th as they meet San Jose Earthquakes DA and Palo Alto SC Blue.

West Coast Soccer Captain Jayden Morton helps get things started for Wildkatz in their 8-0 victory over Mustang.
