Saturday, October 13th 2018, the girls of West Coast Kurse faced the Pleasanton Rage Premier team in an evening State Cup match. With eleven players on the field and no subs on the bench, WCS Kurse had no room for error. Led by team captains Monique Reil and Devyn Baldus at midfield, the girls proved they were up for the challenge. Long time goal keeper Jessica Zogaric took a center defender role to solidify the back line with Allyson “Taz” Thompson, Kaleigh Garcia and Sierra Dazhan. Thus providing newly-acquired goal keeper Amia Harris an opportunity to show her shut-out skills.

WCS Kurse forward Katie Reid scored first thanks to a great combo passing play from Makeila Yancey.  Makeila had another amazing assist to find Kailey Matta for goal two ending the first half 2-0.  In the second half it was Kailey on the ball assisting play to Amber Feduniw for goal three.

In the second half, a WCS Kurse player took a strong shot to the head, which took her out of the game for medical observation. Despite finishing the half a player down, West Coast Kurse finished strong to earn a well-deserved 3 to 0 shutout victory.
