WCS 07 Kryptonite bring home the Winter Cup

The West Coast Kryptonite 07 Girls played in the San Ramon Winter Turf Invitational and took home the Championship this past weekend. Saturday’s competition was against the Orchard Valley Toros. Kryptonite took control of the game from start to finish, and ended with a 2-0 victory. Next up for West Coast was Burlingame Gold. Kryptonite wanted to avenge their lopsided loss from a past tournament play and were focused with stellar passing and stifling defense, Kryptonite was able to come away with a 3-1 dominant win. Sunday’s first match against San Ramon Navy was a challenging game even though West Coast had the upper hand most of the game they could just not put the ball in the net. Game ended in a 0-0 stalemate. With being in a great position based on points to win the tournament, the Kryptonite, in their second game Sunday faced the dangerous San Carlos Blue team. This was a very high energy game, West Coast Kryptonite did not let the torrential downpour slow them down.  In an extremely physical contest, Kryptonite stayed the course and managed to score in each half to take the title with a 2-1 win. The WCS defense was led by Nylah Trias, Madden Black, Carina Montague, Nikki Orth, and Ariel Sandoval. Stellar goalkeeping by Ailey Whiteman and Piper Sweeney. Strong Midfield was led by Jayden Reynolds, Kendall Shetter, and Ava Charles. Offense punch provided by Sofia Herrera, Ella Nguyen, and Jariah Indalecio, Ryan Rodriguez our with injury. Coach Sara Girotto said that “Every single player played fantastic and contributed to the success of the weekend. I am very proud of these young ladies and know they have such a bright future ahead of them.”
