On Sunday, West Coast Soccer's premier 06 girls team, Krossfire played it's third and final match of the second round of State Cup against a strong Sporting Santa Clara team. The first half was a back and forth battle as both teams created good scoring opportunities, but the defenses came up big every time. The match would go into the half scoreless. After coach Marlon Fernandez made some halftime adjustments, Krossfire came out pushing into Santa Clara's side. About five minutes in Brittany Hahn stopped a Santa Clara pass and sent it up field to Kayla Robinson who beat Sporting's defense to put Krossfire up 1-0. “I’m really proud of the way we played the players did great individually and collectively” said coach Fernandez. The Krossfire defensive line held strong for the remainder of the game and goalkeeper Jennessa Maselli finished with a clean sheet and 7 saves.
Krossfire finished round two State Cup group stage with 2 wins and 1 loss placing them in the top 10 in the state cup division. Next up for West Coast Krossfire is the State Cup 3rd round set for February 9th.
