Wildkatz 05 of West Coast Soccer Club, had a break in NPL play in the months of November, December and January. During that break, Wildkatz competed in an 04/05 boys’ indoor soccer league in Manteca to keep their soccer skills sharp and proved themselves to be worthy opponents amongst the teams of boys.  Also, during the break, Wildkatz own Cameron Silva was selected to attend U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Girls National Training Camp in Tampa, Florida where she competed with and against some of the best 05 soccer players in the nation.

With the NPL break continuing until March, Wildkatz began NorCal Winter League in the 04 Premier bracket on Saturday, February 2, with a match against Marin FC 05.  Marin found the net first early in the first half of play on a corner kick.  As the second half began, Karlee Lywandowsky would battle through a barrage of Marin players to send the ball to the back of the net and even the score 1-1.  The teams would battle back and forth, but Wildkatz continued to dominate control of play.  With minutes left in the match, Madison Reid stepped up to the ball from just over the midfield line and sent it to the goal. Marin’s keeper tried to knock the ball out of the goal, but the ball bounced just inside the line and Wildkatz would take the 2-1 lead.  Wildkatz defense continued to hold Marin scoreless in the second half and Wildkatz would take the win.

Wildkatz met Santa Clara Sporting Green 04 on Sunday, February 3, for their second NorCal Winter League match.  Wildkatz dominated possession in the early minutes of play and Jasmine Staples found Nadia Sherman in front of Sporting Green’s goal, Shermans perfectly placed shot went into the back of the net giving Wildkatz an early lead.  The physical and aggressive Sporting Green would answer with a goal of their own with a booming shot to tie the match 1-1.  Jaydnn King put herself in a great spot from a corner kick by Lywandowsky to put Wildkatz up 2-1 at the end of the first half.  As the second half began, Sporting Green again sent the ball into the net and tied the match 2-2.  Minutes later, Kamiryn Grimes bursted through on a dribble to goal and send it past Sporting Green’s keeper and Wildkatz would again take the lead 3-2.  As the match continued to be physical, Wildkatz kept their composure and used skill to maintain the lead and take the win.  Next up for Wildkatz is the continuation of Winter League play as they travel north to face Santa Rosa United 05 on February 9th.
